Licensed as a Marriage Family Therapist since 1993

I hold a Master’s of Science degree in Counseling, am certified in Family Based Therapy through Stanford in the Train to Treat Program, have advanced training, and over 20 years experience working in eating disorders treatment.

I think you will find that I am warm, compassionate, and straightforward. I use a practical cognitive behavioral approach to assist people in developing a healthy relationship with their food, weight, and body image issues, while also helping them to understand and resolve the underlying issues.  I am a Cordon Bleu trained chef and avid gardener and bring a healthy love of food and all its meanings to my work.

I am a member of CAMFT (California Association of Marriage Therapists), IAEDP (International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals), and APTED (Association of Professionals Treating Eating Disorders) and am committed to ongoing continuing education and training. Yearly I complete well over twice the minimum requirements in CEU's for licensure, primarily in the study of effective treatments for eating disorders.

My spacious office is in a lovely home style setting in The Cottage Counseling Center. I have a full kitchen in which to have cooking and food prep experiences and a dining room to provide meal coaching and support.

I have spent my entire career learning about and treating men, women and adolescents with various forms of food weight and body image concerns.  Research shows that early and aggressive treatment provides the best chance for a full recovery. I am therefore very passionate about early intervention and have done extensive training in Family Based Therapy (Maudsley) which empowers the whole family to assist their child in fighting the very serious and life threatening diseases of bulimia and anorexia nervosa.

I work closely with all members of the treatment team to optimize a healthy outcome. The most effective team includes a medical doctor, a psychological counselor, a dietitian and sometimes a psychiatrist and group therapist. I am affiliated with Kat Brown, MS RD  RYT dietitian/and nutrition therapist who has over 15 years experience in treating eating disorders.
